Members Ani Posted August 24, 2005 Members Posted August 24, 2005 I had just opened the Disney thread a moment ago while starting to post when my Norton Firewall blocked a High Risk Trojan horse from entering my personal computer. Here are the specifics... Security AlertHigh Risk Security Alert created for Default Block NetBus Torjan horse rule. Members phaeton Posted August 24, 2005 Members Posted August 24, 2005 Trojan entering your computer from where? I mean it lists the IP address (Seoul, Korea) and the port it's coming in on, but I dunno that the Disney thread has anything to do with it... coincidence, perhaps?
Members Billster Posted August 24, 2005 Members Posted August 24, 2005 Is your mail application or other internet connected program running? Are there other browser windows open?
Members franknputer Posted August 24, 2005 Members Posted August 24, 2005 Netbus is a remote access program that's been around for a long time. From what I've read, it's a client/server arrangement that needs to get installed on your PC somehow (usually by clicking something you shouldn't) & then it will allow various activities to be performed by someone at a remote computer. Sounds like you may have been being port-scanned. The client half of the program will scan computers, looking for the server operating on an open port. If your firewall blocked it, good - it did its job. Like I said, this one has been around for a long time, so any firewall software that isn't utter crap should protect against it.
Members Perfessor Posted August 25, 2005 Members Posted August 25, 2005 I had no trouble with my computer until I downloaded somebody's music from this forum. Actually, I didn't get anything but I tried to download it. Just after this my computer started to slow down and I had to keep restarting it. I called MSN and they instructed me on how to reboot everything so the worm wouldn't bother my computer anymore. Now I don't download anyone's music from here.

Members gdoubleyou Posted August 25, 2005 Members Posted August 25, 2005 You ARE right, I don't have clue, never owned any anti-virus since I switched.

While it's possible to hide a trojan in an audio or graphic file, if your player software was properly updated there'd be little chance of such malware being able to exploit such a vulnerability.
