Members GAS Man
I don't even have to begin to think twice about that. Members BlankGeneration
Most of these have been said already, but here are a couple of my favorites: Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous Devo - Now It Can Be Told: Live At The Palace The Clash - Live: From Here To Eternity KISS: Alive II (I must admit that I haven't heard the first Alive album, so I have no idea how they compare) David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust and The Spiers From Mars: Music From The Motion Picture

Members Electric Catfish
Fleetwood Mac in Chicago 1969.Bob Seger Live Bullet 1975. FM in Chicago was recorded at Chess Studios. It was probably recorded "live" (no overdubs), but there was no audience. Great recordings, none the less.
Members raviolio
lots of great recordings mentioned here. but for me, the live record that inspired me to want to play guitar (and even though my taste in music has broadened considerably since, still continues to inspire me to this day) would be...UFO - Strangers In The Nighti wore out two vinyl copies of it as a kid. and even though i never tired of it, only recently did i 'rediscover' it on cd. it captured the band at their peak, and is flawless from beginning to end. not only is Michael Schenker's guitar playing incredible, with several amazing solos that build upon and complement the songs perfectly (rather than simply gratuitous display of virtuosity) ... the songs themselves are great examples of melodic hard rock at it's finest, and the live versions are all better than the already excellent studio originals.yeah... there are lots of great records here... if you don't know this one, do yourself a favor

Members seven58
I forgot one... Jackson Browne - Running On Empty While it isn't exactly a "live" album, it was recorded in various places other than a studio. Considering the technology back then and that at times a card board box was used as a kick drum when recording on the tour bus, it sounds great. Members ThomasD
Top ten live albums in my book are: B.B. King - Live at the Cook County Jail Who - Live at Leeds Alllman Brothers Band - Live at the Filmore East AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It The Band - The Last Waltz Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East Neil Young - Live Rust Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous Rush - All the Worlds a Stage Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour Yes, I'm aware some of those were pretty heavily doctored. Although not a 'live' album in the sense of being a concert Jimi Hendrix's Radio One recorded in a BBC studio strikes me as one of the best, most honest live performances by a band, ever.
