My favorite small guitar shop has this nice MIJ Tele...60's Classic serie with Bigsby at a very good price...it's been there for more than a year, so they might want it to find a home, and deal accordingly...Teles are my absolute favorite guitars to play, love the feel and sound...my main axe is a MIM standard Tele. This would surely see a lot of live action...a Tele with a Bigsby, are you kidding ? I would take this to a desert island anytime...

On the other hand, I always wanted a 6120, and this one comes close enough. It's cheaper than the Tele but they don't have it in stock, so they have have to order it. This would be a nice sonic addition since I already own a Tele, but it might see less action...or maybe not...

What would YOU choose ?

You already have a Tele. Install a Bigsby on it. And buy the Gretsch.

Get the Bigsby Tele, sell your MIM Tele, then save a little more money and buy the Gretsch. Or get the Gretsch and put a Bigsby on your current Tele
:thu:

I could never sell my MIM Tele ...it's the best guitar I ever had. I've had a few USA Strats, a Fender Lead 1, many Gibson SG's, a 70's Ibanez Artist, Epis Wildkat and vintage G400, and countless others and NONE ever came close to this Tele in my hands. Somehow, they made this one right, or it was simply just right for me. Anyway, lets just say I love it and it loves me back:love:

Then go with the second option: Get the Gretsch and add a bigsby to your tele.

Does a tele with a bigsby still sound like a tele? the tele bridge is what makes it sound unique. Would you be cutting the testicles off of a tele by putting a bigsby on it just to get some wobble?

A tele has a unique sound. If the bigsby makes it sound like something else, then I wouldn't bother.

To my ears a Tele still sounds like a Tele if it has a Bigsby.

If this were a poll, I would vote 5120. I like both though. Have you ever played a hollow like the Gretsch? Plays and sounds different then the tele, of course.

Yes, I have an Epi Wildkat...but it sounds more like a Casino because of the P90's

They're both cool as hell; very tuff call. I think I like the tele better because they just feel so nice an ballanced, and they sound great. Teles have becoe my favorite electrics...either way, you win because they're both really cool guitars.

I'd take the Gretsch as well. Speaking of Wildkats, I've really been thinking about one of those for a P-90 guitar after hearing so many good things. Also, I'm an Epi guy. What's your take on them since you own one?

Sorry but you've got to be F@#$ing Crazy to want any guitar with a Bigbsy trem. they totally Suck!!

What the hell is wrong with people, this is like saying get me the brake handle from the stage coach and put it on my Chevy - it's a classic piece of equipment.

I've never heard nor seen a guitar with a Bigsby that didn'tgo out og tune every time the trem was used, and that included a 335, a cheap copy Hagstrom.

YUCK!

I just played through a full setlist rehearsal, and my Bigsby held tune just fine. Now, I wasn't wanking it around very hard...but it is perfect for a subtle vibrato effect. I think Bigsby's sound particularly good with chords, where my Strat never did.

I guess I just like my stage-coach brake handle! :D

PS: I like the Tele!
