Members whit townsend
Played a faded cherry one at GC the other day that was really nice. Nut was cut well, fretwork was decent, and I liked the sound of the pickups. I hate the black hardware tho. I think some gold tuners, gold pup surrounds, and a gold tune-omatic would dress it up nicely. Who sells affordable drop in parts for epis, GF? Someone else? Members bruto
I played a Worn Brown one a few months ago, and I was impressed. I couldn't believe the quality for the price. Even the stock pups sounded good. But a $300 Dot Studio + $100 more in upgrades? Why not just buy the regular Dot? You can get the Cherry one for $400 from MF. It's not gold hardware, but chrome. Members GarysBlues
Epi has been pretty impressive as of late! I also played a Dot yesterday. Right next to it was a Casino though. Of course its a $599. dollar guitar NEW. But this Casino was MINT and so-light? Nice BIG FAT neck also? Great fret work...........just a KILLER guitar. I don't think I EVER played a CASINO THAT NICE! Well, I was hoping it would be a little less than 100 bucks, maybe not.And this studio was marked at $199(plus tax tho), not $299.On sale I guess. And I beleive the pickups are substantially different. I really think the ones in that studio were better than the ones in the reg dots I've played, lack of covers not withstanding. I also really liked the simplified control layout.Could be I'm just imagining tho, you are prob. right.

Members bruto
$199! Well that chages everything. Get it. A gold Gotoh bridge and tailpiece will rund $70, but a generic one is perhaps $20. For tuners these may work: http://cgi.ebay.com/Gold-Wilkinson-3-3-LP-Style-Full-Size-Tuners-EZ-LOK_W0QQitemZ150129733848QQihZ005QQcategoryZ41434QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem
Members whit townsend
Well, so the economics/sanity of the idea not withstanding, where do I get drop in parts for chinese epis? Don't wanna do a bunch of redrilling etc. Need to have the bridge and tailpiece posts go right into the same holes & tuners that dont need the holes redrilled. Members Doctor Morbius
A few members here were lucky enough to score Dot Studios from M123 for $100 shipped before they turned to the dark side. Everyone who posted about them stated they had "2nd" stamped on the back of the headstock but nobody could find any faults with them. Everybody seemed very pleased with their purchase (self included). The black hardware looks like it is supposed to be on the black Studios. It has a flat finish to it with no binding and looks more like it is part of Epi's goth series. Makes me want to join a Cure cover band. And it literally smokes my Washburn OE30. Nolo contendere! Members dcooper830
I got this a few weeks ago. I LOVE it!! I got the action nice an' low. The neck is big and chunky 50's style and feels GREAT!!I love the way it looks... black hardware, uncovered pickups an' all. The pickups sound fine.. I'm in no hurry to upgrade 'em just yet. I recommend Guitarfetish for all your upgrades. I'm thinking it would be cool to buy another one just like this and put all gold hardware on it and some gold covered GFS Fat PAFs. I love the Dot Studios and this one here is awesome!! I've been getting lots of compliments on it at the gigs too!

Members Dissy
I had the pleasure of trying one of these a few weeks ago. I was sorely tempted to buy one on the spot, but my friend talked me out of it. Maybe one of these days...
