Members UllyssesSB
Lots of great ones out there. One that has always been on the top of my list is Roundabout by Yes. yeah that has got to be the sweetest intro ever... that and Nobody's fault but mine! Members DADGADammit
Radiohead - Airbag, Paranoid Android come to mind my favorite Radiohead intro is from 'Subterranean Homesick Alien' AC/DC writes kickass riffs, but all of these "intro" riffs you guys are mentioning are actually part of the song, just no singing over it. so are a lot of the Van Halen ones. That is why I must nominate Led Zeppelin, and to a lesser extent Black Sabbath. They have badass intros which are never played again in the song, thus truly making them only intro riffs. This is my interpretation of an "intro riff" at least. One band that I was never a huge fan of, but they always had great intro riffs (again riffs that are not played again in the song) was Bad Company
Members valued customer
sure ac-dc wins the overall, but the single best intro riff of all time? ufo: reasons love. ab-so-{censored}ing-loutely insane.
Members Armchair Bronco
AC/DC is miles ahead of any other band. T.N.T. Jailbreak And Nirvana, especially on the "Nevermind" album, has several memorable opening riffs. Members Hemroidius
Since they've gone unmentioned thus far the Who- just about anything off Who's Next along with "Substitute", "I can't Explain", a bunch of stuff from Tommy and Quadrophenia... Lots of semi-obscure bands I'm into are as good as anyone in the intro department.

He put Spirit of Radio too, but that one you just don't leave out All those songs have great riffs through and through.
