Members Hoddy
There's lots of used Greco, Burnys and other MIJ guitars in that range on Ebay...personally you can't go wrong with a good used Greco....I bought a 1990 Mint Collection Les Paul about six months ago and love it...and I've had six Gibbys in the past, it compares to them in every way...but if you do decide to go that route make sure you are buying one from the better years...the guys over at www.tokaiforum.com are really a big help and don't mind giving advice...they helped me out alot. Members larry50
Try the Reverends in that price range. They have dealers in Great Britain and throughout Europe now. Here's the website: http://www.reverendguitars.com/ and a list of their international dealers: http://www.reverendguitars.com/reverend/dealers.html#international. This is a pretty nice looking Les Paul lookalike I think: http://www.reverendguitars.com/reverend/images/guitars/set_neck_series/hi-res/roundhouse_hb_fm_hburst_lg.jpg
Members zenbu
you can get a service like Rinkya to bid for you on Yahoo Japan for a fee and get the same guitars European sellers get minus their profit margin. Not sure what those amounts come to in yen but I bet you could get something nice, used, for that. But you know, with so many people throwing themselves all over older MIJs these days prices have gone, and continue to, go up...good thing is...you may be able to recoup your money should you decide to sell...bad thing is, the longer you wait the more you`ll have to pay, but there are bargains on the Japanese web, lots of guys boast of theirs so it is possible. Members ArKay
The Johnson guitars from the professional series are also great (made in Korea, not China like the standards). They make very fine guitars.
