Members White Falcon
I'm wondering which strings are unisons and which are octaves, and what guage to use for the octaves?
Members The Birdman
Normally the 3rd through 6th strings have octave strings, the 1st and 2nd have unisons. My experience with 12-strings is strictly acoustic, but usually the range for octave strings is around .008" for the third, .012" for the fourth, .018" for the fifth, and .027" for the sixth. Members Kap'n
These are what I use on both of my 12's: That's about right, or a 0.001" lower, if you're tuning to concert (EBGDAE) pitch. You can go heavier if you tune down.
