Listening to 'Live at Leeds' has really got me GASing for an SG classic.

Stop it. Seriously. I finally got over my SG Classic GAS, and then you make this thread. Now I'm going to be tempted to watch 'The Kids are Alright' again, and it going to start all over... I honestly don't think I've GASsed for anything as much as a P90 SG...:cry::cry:

I've been looking at a Standard SG with humbuckers lately, and already have a Casino with P-90's...but man, an SG classic would be nice.

The SG Classic has white neck binding and an inlaid "Gibson" moniker. There's a lot more eye candy on this guitar than an SG Standard.

Have you also considered the SG Jr? I don't know how much Townshend used the neck pup, but the SG Jr is actually closer to Townshend's SGs from the "Live at Leeds" era, in particular with it's wrap-around bridge.

I recently ordered an SG Classic for myself. And while I'm very happy (it won't be here for a few more weeks), I still find myself looking longingly at pictures of the much simplier SG Jr -- 1 pup, 2 pots, single piece wrap-around bridge, and not much else!

Ron,

You've got a great collection of SG's. I love my '67 Special Reissue as I'm sure you do. I wonder how the other 398 owners of these killer guitars are enjoying theirs?

I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. It is one sweet guitar. I do kind of wonder though if MF might be a little ticked off as I bet that cut into their sales of the "exclusive SG Classic" (another fantastic guitar btw).

The '67 re-issue has the smaller pickguard (versus the batwing monstrosity), the binding is faded (not white), the tuners are Kluson-style green plastic tulips (versus plastic white button tuners). And I think the truss rod cover is unadorned (the Classic has "Classic" in style style of "Coke Classic"...when my Classic arrives in mid-January, one of the first cosmetic upgrades I make will be to replace the truss rod cover).

I'm not sure if the '67 re-issue has a Gibson decal on the headstock or is inlaid like the Classic.
