Members fragglerick
I have an HH strat and for some reason the pups keep sinking into the guitar. They're both Duncans. The springs were kinda long so I trimmed them a little thinking it would help, but it didn't. This is the only guitar I've ever had this problem with. Members fragglerick
replace the springs with rubber tubing That's a good idea! I used to work for a guitar maker that did that. I can't believe I didn't think of that myself. Thanks.
Members 's mel gibson
The only problem with rubber tubing is that it will dry out and crumble after a while. Becoming useless. The springs you trimmed were not meant to be trimmed to make it easier for you to put them back on the height adjustment bolt. They were meant to be compressed and placed on the bolt to support the p'up's height. The trick is to use dental floss with a small loop tied on one end and use it to keep the spring compressed while you thread that bolt back into the p'up base. Then cut off the floss and away you go. The dental floss trick is a good one, thanks. FWIW the pups were sinking before I trimmed the springs. I trimmed them thinking there was too much tension (they were practically bottoming out) on them.
Members tiltsta
You could glue a small block of wood under the pickups to hold em in place.

Members 's mel gibson
I go to my local Long & McQuade and they give me a couple of those springs for free if I ask for them.
