Members Jkater
I didn't look but here is a good database of Yamaha electrics over the years. http://www.yamaha.co.jp/product/guitar/eg/database/ This is a beautiful guitar! No doubt that you had a good deal maybe a great one depending on how it plays, sounds, etc. If a few things are not tip top or worn, you can mod/fix it to get a great sounding and playing guitar that is also special and rare. Congrats!
Members pongki
could not find the exact models but thank you, I'm getting close..it's probably from the 60's-70's

Members jlw001
That is one nice guitar. You could do blues to Merl Travis, to hard rock and probably even metal if you stand in the right spot....

Members sixtydriver
I have several FG acoustics I have picked up over the years. Yamaha has a SN search tool on their website. Look on the left for Guitar Serial Number Wizard. It won't tell you what the hell it is but it will tell you how old it is. I have used it quite a bit. http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/Catalog/Catalog_GSMFCX/0,6357,CTID=221350&CNTYP=&VNM=LIVE&AFLG=Y,00.html

Members zenbu
there may be stuff stamped onto the bottom of the p`ups...my SG-800 had a date that we figured out to be 1981, I think it was.

Members Jkater
maybe one more bump will help It won't help you but maybe it will help us: I'm curious, how is the guitar? Resonnance fretwork finish, type of wood, etc. Are those "vintage looking" Yamaha tuners working well? Thanks!
Members pongki
the tone is graet, if gibson es 175 is a 9 then i would give this yamaha an 8,5! really, it's really that great (considering the non original pick ups)...so far I can play this yamaha for hours, until my wife scream at me to take the garbage out ha ha ha...the tuning machine also works great, it holds steadily..
