First I did my taxes and ended up owing way less than I had expected which meant money left over for other stuff. So, I decided to get a new guitar. I went to Guitar Center and after playing nearly every guitar that caught my interest, including Several Gibson Les Pauls, a couple of PRS guitars in the $2900 range and a handful of Fender MIA Strat models including the Eric Johnson signature, the new 2008 Standards, etc. I ended up with a beautiful American Deluxe Stratocaster in a beautiful 3 tone sunburst and rosewood fretboard. I played the exact same guitar with a maple fretboard but didn't like the feel as much and it had a single ply pickguard on it. Since I opted to NOT buy one of the PRS guitars, which I did consider heavily, my wife also allowed me to get a new amp to replace the Marshall Valvestate combo I've had for the last 15 or so years. I ended up getting the Line 6/Bogner Spider Valve 112. It's an amazing sounding amp with amazing tone.
