Members Cliff Fiscal
Ever heard of them or tried them? A local shop just started to carry them..... I played this one: http://www.spearguitar.com/product/pro_1/RD-p/rd-relic.asp THE NECK WAS :love:x100000000 The playability was incredible. Sadly, the reliced 3D barn board body was a little cheesy....not really my "thing". I couldn't believe it......a nick fat thick LP style neck....the P-90s we'ren't too bad either. $295 out the door.....I'm so tempted! So I tried this one next: http://www.spearguitar.com/product/pro_1/RD-p/rd-150.asp The finish was really nice, flamey. Binding on everything...inlays.... The one I played didn't have such an odd headstock The neck was a little thinner...which I don't really care for....I love those baseball bat necks! Overall really decent guitars for $295.....some of the designs are pretty extreme......I just wish they did the Custom LP look with the fat neck. I probably would have had a NGD today.... Members noisebloom
I'm really not down with the "flood victim" finish on the first one, but it looks like a pretty nice guitar otherwise. The second one is better. Reasonable prices, too.
Members Vinhoff
some neat stuff, this one would really be interesting to me if it weren't for the inlays http://www.spearguitar.com/product/pro_1/sig-p/sbt.asp

I would have bought the thing if it just has a carved top with the "relic'd" thing going on.....actually, without the relic would be my first choice. Kind of like a carved top Gibson LP DC Faded copy:love: I can not explain it words how nice the guitar played......a $300 guitar playing like a $2k guitar....WTF????? Side note: Just as a comparison.......the shop had a Ernie Ball MM90http://cgi.ebay.com/Ernie-Ball-Music-Man-Axis-Sport-Guitar-Rosewood-NEW_W0QQitemZ140238555612QQcmdZViewItemJust like that one....while I liked the EBMM90 too.....the Spear guitar wasn't too far off......the EBMM was more refined and simple....which is what I like in a guitar. Had the Spear guitar been a little more plain.....I would own it. Otherwise, the playability was right up there with the EBMM....I couldn't believe it. Members Annoying Twit
The reviews on Harmony central are few, but both are good. For the money. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/brand/Spear No reviews for the basses. The styling of the basses definitely looks as if Spear (whoever they may be) has tried for a custom shop look. But the prices on US ebay are mid-priced. There are only a few examples of Spear instruments on UK ebay. E.g. this shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Fret-Music-LTD The instruments are available from a variety of UK online shops. I had a look to see if I could compare UK prices to US prices, but it's turning out trickier than I thought. I can't find decent pairs to compare with. Members Annoying Twit
We were in Derby today. Walking past what seemed to be a quite small music shop, I had a look inside. After going up about three floors I found the guitar section. And a surprisingly interesting selection of guitars and basses. Plenty of Corts, Fenders, Shine, and quite a few Spear guitars. The first one that caught my eye was the RD-Relic as in the first post in this thread! No Spear basses, though they told me they could get them if I wanted one. I didn't ask for prices. Derby seems to be a hotbed of Spear guitars. There was even a through neck spalted Spear guitar in the local "Cash Generators" store.
