Members Ryan Trevisol
If you were local to me, I'd do the repair for $150, $200 if you wanted splines put in. That's a real clean break. Should be no trouble for a local woodwooker with experience and/or a luthier to fix. Unstring it NOW, before it breaks clean off. Members sk8centilli
He's only 5 not quite old enough to beat but I thought about it. ROFL! You're a good Dad.
Members PhilBilly
Relax, dude. Son > guitar. And it's fixable. After I settled down and he got the courage to apoligize he was bawling. I told him that while I was angry that I loved him more than any guitar and that I forgave him. I told him that just because I was mad that didn't mean that I didn't love him.
Members PhilBilly
heh, that will be probably harder to fix than the guitar I know how to fix that.
Members milosch
I'd get a professional to work on it... Who am I kidding, I'd probably give it a go. But, consider it.
Members jelloman
Hanging on. OK if you can hinge it back down to where it sits flush and see no gap just glue and clamp per my earlier post. if the two pieces do not match up you are gonna have to seperate them to clean out the torn fibers and splinters. this may seem daunting at first but it must be done to achieve a clean joint. ANY GAP WILL CAUSE A GLUE JOINT TO FAIL!
Members PhilBilly
Dude, i hope you don't maul your son just for a guitar. what kinda guitar? No I wouldn't hurt him. I don't believe in spanking. Epiphone SG G-400. It's a cheap guitar. But it means a lot to me. We are poor people and my wife worked really hard to scrape to money to get it for my birthday 3 months ago. It meant a lot to me that she did that. Members GreatDane
Relax, dude. Son > guitar. And it's fixable. +1. and FWIW, if you have kids out and about, keep yer guits in their cases. it isn't his fault if it was out in plain view on a stand. ANY GAP WILL CAUSE A GLUE JOINT TO FAIL! Gorilla glue is great for this because you dampen the wood prior to applying the glue, and the slight swelling helps eliminate gaps. It oozes like a mofo, though, so let it DRY before carefully excising it with a blade of some sort.
Members PhilBilly
Did he take the guitar out of the case you no doubt keep it in and do that?Or did he accidentally knock it off a stand in an easily accessible place for him?Guitars are worth money, children are priceless Took it out of the case. And was screwing around with it. It slipped off his shoulder and waapaa it broke. He knows he's not allowed to touch it when I'm not around. Members BAXANDALL
It's just stuff. You're son will beat himself up quite enough when he's old enough to realize what he did... It is a clean break too. You should be able to repair or have it repaired easily.
Members PhilBilly
Putting your fist through the door did nothing, but give you two things to fix though... I didn't say I was proud of it. I just said that it happened.

Members PhilBilly
Unstring it NOW, before it breaks clean off. I already did thanks for the advice. I have no idea what I'm doing here. I don't have to money to have it fixed by someone else. Especially not this time of year.

Members Ryan Trevisol
Do you have clamps? This is one way (probably not the best way but it works great for us) to clamp up a broken headstock:

Sorry it happened, but don't be too rough on junior. Accidents happen. and yeah, it does look like an easy fix.. Couple clamps, some glue, razor blade to scrape, and some clear coat in a can.. Members golias
Wait... a G-400? Fixing the hole you punched in the bedroom door might actually cost more than the used value of your guitar. Sounds like the acorn didn't fall far from the tree when it comes to destructive misbehavior.:poke:
