OT - Vonage experience

We recently got screwed over by this company. My girlfriend signed up (at my recommendation:rolleyes:) and was told there would be no charge for 2 months. When she mentioned she wanted to have no termination fee, the person on the phone assured us that if it meant she'd sign up, then the fee would be waived.

Now (guess what?) she is trying to cancel the service, and they are socking her with a $100 fee "to cover the cost of the hardware" even though they don't want the hardware returned and won't give her credit for it if she does.

These people are bad players - - liars, cheats, slime.

My advice to my friends here at the forum: If you are tempted to deal with these people (I use the term loosely), run as fast as possible... and don't look back lest you get turned into a pillar of salt.

I have had Vonage for over 4 years, and while I have had nothing but good experiences, I have had many friends say similar things. I am down to the 10 dollar a month plan now just to have a line in the house, but am killing that soon since we all have cells.

I was a SunRocket customer until they went belly up and what a nightmare that was. Found a small, little company called VOIP For Life and have used them now for 2 years. NEVER a problem. And they push that their Customer Service peope are here in the US. The time or two that I have had to call, they've been excellent. I absolutely love these people and they have provided me with the best phone service I've ever had, whether it be landline, cell or VOIP...

Check this news story (I saw a similar report on TV the other day) and then go to the sites below and vent. You might even get a response from Vonage offering to resolve your issue... and you'll definitely do the most damage to their rep regardless.
