  • Most recognisable guitar n bass combo

Who in your most humble opinion are the most instantly recognisable guitar and bass combo, and I'm talking players here, that when playing together you just know it's them.

I have a pair in mind, but I'd like to see how many other pairings we can come up with

Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee if you are talking about the overall effect of guitar and bass combined

        Instantly recognizable?  hmmmmmm....

There are the obvious choices like Page/Jones and Townsend/Entwistle, but I'd have to say if those guys were (today) just jamming in some rehearsal room and you couldn't see them...I don't think they'd be the most recognizable.

Geddy and Alex are a nice choice, but I think I can do better....

        Maybe Sting and Andy Summers?

        +1 to Frusciante & Flea

I'd also add Les Claypool & Larry LaLonde.

The Edge & Adam Clayton also a pretty safe pick.  Dave Matthews & Stefan Lessard, Tom Morello & Tim Commerford and two from the 90's era: Ben Harper & Juan Nelson and Bradley Nowell & Eric Wilson.

Wow... escaped me for a bit because I kind of treat Nile and Bernard as local folks made good. But I have to say I agree. That was the tightesd, most recognizable groove combo ever. Well done, Sean!

              Never would have guessed that!

Not to say they weren't a good combo, as everyone mentioned here is, but for recognizable playing styles? I voted Townshend and Entwistle because they both had extremely recognizable tones and styles, enough so that you probably could guess them from a blind test.

Jorma & Jack for me too. A close second would be Leslie West & Felix Pappalardi.
