I got some some cool adapter rings from Guitar Fetish that let me put single coils where the original humbuckers were and threw in a set of gold foils. I really like them a lot! They solved the main problem I had with the stock humbuckers being too hot and not articulate enough. They're nice and chimey into a Fender amp, "keerangy" sounding if that makes any sense. The bridge is slightly too nasally for my taste when used alone, so I kind of live on the neck and middle positions. I'm thinking about maybe experimenting with a lipstick or a p90 in the bridge. I'll get some clips up soon!
Members jakejoshryan
Not to insult a classic, but I find the new look so much more aesthetically pleasing, that's gorgeous!
Phil O'Keefe
A P90 is a very classic tone Travis - a band that both you and I like quite a bit is known for using them... Nice job on the pickup swap - it looks really clean.
Members DeepEnd
A LP with Strat pickups. Who woulda thunk it? It actually looks kinda cool. As for the bridge pickup, there are humbucker size P90s available and one of them--or a set--might be what you're seeking. Since you like GFS, their Dream 90 might work well.
