Members Juicy Elk Man
No. But with the mention of wood, I feel a tonewood debate on the horizon; one with lots of technical speak about quantum sound theory that involves the sonic permutations of sub-dominant harmonic waveforms and their effect on guitar body materials in a vacuum environment. Crystal lattices will be mentioned at some point, and maybe the odd flux capacitor or two will find its way into the myriad arguments that will arise. Maybe, if this place was TGP. If you intend to keep yer plywood geetar, prioritise yer monies towards getting a very wide strap so that you avoid shoulder injury from the weight. Next, worry about the best effect pedals. Members ninjaaron
Pretty sure there is no effect that can "un-plywood" your guitar, and anyway, there are some decent-sounding plywood guitars. I'm not going to go so far as to day the wood doesn't matter on an electric instrument, but it definitely matters less than things like pickups, nut, saddles, electrical components... Basically, it matters less than everything else. Also, light compression and Eq can make any guitar sound more lively. A little echo doesn't hurt either, but that sort of depends on genre. Members Juicy Elk Man
Just use one of them super mega distortion stompbox thingies with all the knobs maxed out. By doing this, all guitars become equal. I recommend a Big Moof (I think that's what it's called) or a Metal Zoo (not sure on that one too).
