  • Good Mexican food in San Diego?

So I'm in San Diego for granny Faldoe's funeral (rip). A friend that grew up in SD swears the the Mexican food in SD easily rivals the food in the Bay Area. Can anyone recommend some spots that rule?

Try Las Cuatro Milpas. It's about as authentic and yummy as it gets.

Bay Area Mexican food > San Diego Mexican food
I haven't found good Mexican food here yet. And SD is so much about chain restaurants everywhere. I haven't been to where Phil recommends.
What part of SD will you be in? PM me and let me know if you have any free time and want to meet. I'm near Poway. Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Cotijas on Voltaire in OB, next to the apple market. Best California burrito and carne asada fries around.

I cant help you with the Mexican food, but I found a cool bar when I was in SD last month.

            http://www.neighborhoodsd.com

When you head to the bathroom, there is a stack of beer kegs piled up on a wall. Push the kegs to reveal a hidden staircase that leads to a very rad and tiny cocktail bar.

Dude I love Cotijas! Hash brown burrito is awesome.

Also try El Comal in North Park. It's great interior Mexican food. The cochinita pibil tacos and the cabrito tacos are the best I've had in this town

There are so many taco shops in San Diego and almost all of them are pretty good. You can't really go wrong where ever you go and you're always within a mile of one.

                              Pretty much - this.

It's not that much different around here.
