  • Favorite Shred players?

I've been going through a phase of listening to my favorite shread players. Guys like Paul Gilbert, Vinnie Moore, Jason Becker, Malmsteen, and a lot of the other Shrapnel guys.

Anyone got any newer or perhaps younger guys I should check out that are doing the shred thing? I prefer straight up instrumental stuff but I guess it couldn't hurt to check out some bands as well. Would love to hear some guys I've never thought of.

That didn't even need to be said. What else can you say about the man that inspired so many...Malmsteen...Impelliteri...Angelo Batio? He's a legend that transcends music itself.

I like Buckethead but some of his stuff is a little too noisy and far out for me...the John Zornish stuff.

EJ is my favorite musician ever.

I haven't heard too much Greg Howe...any particular albums? I've heard Kotzen and Loomis...can't stand Cooley. Haven't even heard of Oz Noy...I'll check that out too.

Also Micheal Romeo and Alexi Laiho, if you can past his voice. The first 3 Bodom albums are killer.

Mark Tremonti has a solo album coming out this Spring, it's claimed to be heavier than Alter Bridge.
