Obscure in the sense that, like any other metal musician, I have seen thousands of RG550s and Fender HM strats. Looking for those cool somewhat-collectible yet extremely functional under-the-radar late 80s/early 90s shredder axes. Examples :

Hamer USA superstrats. Californians, diablos, centauras, and chapparals. I think that's all of 'em.

Zion guitars too. One of these days, I will find and buy a Zion Ty Tabor model.

I almost worked for Zion, I regret not doing that for a year just to make a few guitars for myself

I've had 3 different Hamer USAs. I love catching the Diablos and chaps for under 400, so much guitar for the money :thu:

Anyone a Charvel pro? There are some SERIOUS looking charvels on guitarcenters used site for under 400.

yeah, they are very hard to find, and unfortunately well-known nowadays and catch 500+ or so.

I would LOVE to have an old Peavey Cropper...

Owned a Robin, borrowed one of those EXACT Rands except it was a prototype non-"production" model, had no finish, looked a little crappy, one piece neck-through, one his first 27 fretters. Worth thousands, played so well! Also used to own one of those WRC Gibsons, was a piece of ass.

Gibson M-iii anyone?!?!

Fuck, I want that. Natural, hum/single, stoptail. Yes please.

Furthermore, not really "under the radar" per se, but the Peavey Vandenbergs are fetching a lot of money, I bought mine for $450 new back in the day.
