Members Anderton
You never know how an idea for a song is going to start...check out this article for the story behind the Guess Who's big hit. Skip ahead to the last four paragraphs for the part about the song itself, although the rest of the article has its moments too
Phil O'Keefe
Cool article, and cool story about how the song was created. In a somewhat related story, I recently learned that Julie Nixon's husband (David Eisenhower) was the inspiration for the Creedence Clearwater Revival song Fortunate Son. Members AlamoJoe
Interesting article, seems like the story about the songs meaning might be conjecture or perhaps projection on the part of the articles author however. I also remember Burton Cummings being asked what "Share the Land"'s deeper meaning was and saying something on the order of "Nothing..It's just a song". I certainly remember the times...I was 17 in 1970. Lots of weird stories about the Nixon's. I remember Tricia was kinda cute. I also remember Grace Slick telling a story about how she tried to spike the punch at some function/party the Nixon girls were at with LSD. That could have been quite a worm turner for them. 'Course you have to consider the source on that one.I never bought any Guess Who albums.I was a huge Jefferson Airplane fan, and still consider "Volunteers" one of the best records of the times that could be considered semi-subversive. And that's funny about "Fortunate Son" Phil. Never really assigned that to any specific person, just Rich Men's son's in general. Hope Jeb Bush doesn't post here.
