Not sure whether I prefer Dream Theatre's remix of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, but get a load of JR doing the Keith Emerson thing (about the 030 mark in the video).

Yeah, when Emo did it it was cool, but when JR does he comes across as such a poser. And what's with them doing the DSOTM, is Dream Theater a cover band now?

Well, when you can't write interesting original music, what's the alternative? Most artists write their best tunes from ages 20-35. Beyond that you are lucky as hell to still write edgy material.

Gilmour and Waters had more talent on their ass hairs than any of these prog noodle bands had.

Not to take anything away from Floyd but take away the lyrics and you might have a good Yanni record- plus a great gtr player of course.

DT has always covered other stuff. Musicians always have done that, from classical to jazz to rock to....

BUT I will agree that JR doesn't look too hip doing it.

NOT but I do retract any statements that could construed as anti-Floyd. And I've never even listened to a Yanni record. I guess I'm just full of {censored}:( .

I have seen a number of Dream Theater's Pink Floyd covers on videos on youtube (possibly illegally). I thought they were extremely good.

It is not about who is better, Pink Floyd wrote the music, Dream Theater play their interpretation adding their own touches to it.

p.s I like quirky type things in musical performance such as playing keyboards backwards.

I like Dream Theater and I like when they slip a cover song into their set. I'm glad I haven't seen them do a whole album like Dark side, Master of Puppets, or Number of the Beast. That would get boring.

Rudess is my least favorite of the 3 keyboardists they've had. He played that huge .com modular at their last show and all I could think was 'can't you get that same sound from a minimoog?' If he did anything special with it I missed it. The only real show man in the band is the drummer. But they can all play their butts off. And they will prove it all night; that's what they're into.

I personally think Jordan is a complete showoff at everything he does - he should learn that fast good. And playing the keyboard backward is about as neat of a trick as putting your fist in your mouth or touching your nose with your tongue. Yay.

Rudess has technique but no soul, he does not impress me. Mike Portnoy is the only DT member with any stage presence and talent. The guitar/bass player mostly stand in one place looking down at their instruments
