Members stikygum
25 minutes of video for Logic 8 overview of Tip and Tricks can be viewed here: https://www.macprovideo.com/createaccount/logic8 You have to setup an account, but it's no big deal, only takes 30 secs. That was 25 minutes well spent. So glad Logic decided just to make things simpler and easier to use. It's leap years ahead of Logic 7 IMO, which was not fun to use. More work. But Logic 8, as shown in the video, is really intuitive. Easy to setup and customize. Everything is right in front of you, so no more unnecessary digging to do stuff. Also, Delay Designer (one of the 2 new plugins) looks just awesomely fun. Tweaker glitch machine me thinks! Ultrabeat is SO easy now. Just plain awesome. Man, I'm loving this. Members The Audacity Works
They added two new Ultrabeat videos today. Now it's 12 videos, 35 minutes total, all free. Pretty cool.

Members LameAim
Come on, pighood, you know you need it.... think about side-chaining a Sculpture patch through Ultrabeat and modifying the parameters PER STEP, then off through the new delay plugin... wonderful, wonderful noise... Members pighood
I might consider it if I absolutely HAD to have the upgrade NOW, but since I can get by without it (and for a good while), I'll wait until there's cash in my life again. Members MuzikB
That's what I do, and I just buy it back if I ever really want it again. It's called the Gear-Go-Round Fun stuff! Don't I know it, but now that designers are making what I want, the GAS is subsiding. It may seem weird, but I DON'T WANT Logic Studio. Just the Express 8 upgrade. I never thought I would like the Triton Extreme so much either. I initially just picked it up to handle a gig or two. Then find myself scouring the earth for a MOSS board. Piggy's got a lot I would drop for cash if I needed it, but I'm not piggy.

Members The Audacity Works
It may seem weird, but I DON'T WANT Logic Studio. Just the Express 8 upgrade.LP8 and LE8 sure look similar on paper, huh? Noticed that a few days ago. LE8's missing surround (whatever), TDM support (really whatever), the Jam Packs (no huge deal), Space Designer (okay, that kinda sucks), Delay Designer (aww ), and some of the extra apps (okay, no WaveBurner sucks). Other than that, the $99 upgrade is SO worth it. I wonder if they've continued to rip out all the little shortcuts as well (which aren't mentioned in the comparison chart). I tried the LE7 demo on my laptop (because my XSKey contains special TDM plugs that can't be replaced so that sucker's practically superglued to my G5 tower). MAN was it clunky to get around. All my little workflow tweaks and custom key commands were missing (like capture last take, create new track with next/same object, double-click background of matrix editor to show all regions' data, no low cut filter in the channel EQ, etc.), to the point where I actually gave up making music on the MacBook Pro. But now thanks to the no dongle thing in LP8, all is grand. If Apple really only removed the listed elements, then LE8 is gonna be absolutely sick. Sick as in just as good as other major apps. Members pogo97
I'll let you know when I get it--not ordered yet. But here's the first paragraph from Apple's promo on Logic Express: Single-Window DesignThe Arrange window in Logic Pro 8 consolidates production activities in a single, elegantly-designed workspace. You can record multiple takes; cut, move, or stretch audio with sample accuracy; browse channel strip settings; audition Apple Loops; and drop chords onto your lead sheet

Sick as in just as good as other major apps. We'll know soon enough. I have Logic Express 7.2 and still hardly ever use it. Since I'm in potato land, face to face collaboration with folks is a moot point. They either don't know what Logic is or don't use it. Not to mention that I Just find it a chore to use myself. Right after I get the loot for my Furman I'm going to make the upgrade but likely won't get the full blown version unless some things work out and expand after I go Myspace. It looks like it's designed to download lots of videos and at $50 a pop I don't think that's going to happen. Do you need to give any credit card info for NED and the free downloads. I see this thread got a little off topic so I'd like to ask how people like these videos and how good is the Logic (8) Studio info? I see they still have a lot of 7. I also didn't see any WaveBurner tutorials.
