Sort of "The Lush Life" goes south of the border...

There probably aren't too many watering holes in Acapulco where the locals drink that they serve margaritas... but I can just about taste the salt on the rim of the tear-stained glass...

;)

PS... not entirely sure about the final, "

i tried to listen, but i couldn't stop looking at the picture of the latina. (my weakness) :)

this song is fantastic and a great fit in its niche....it's a bullseye. i don't like it, though. :) that's pure taste, but a little bit of that taste is based in execution. and as mickeydean said up there, it's barry manilow...i hate that guy for the same reasons.

one of the things that gets me is the totally gringo feel. once we cross over into a latin feel music...even tex-mexey stuff, it's gotta be authentic or nothing....the whole thing is too rigid...but i think the main culprit is his voice....too, too gringo (siestaaaahh....hehehe). for me too, that OLAY needs nixing, man. b2b's right...people who aren't hung up on the feel like me will be taken out of that 'tristeza agridulce' (love that, btw. ;) ) that you're trying to get.

if you're feeling bad about my listen, go back to my first sentence.....wait...my SECOND sentence. (unless the latina's your wife!) it is fantastic for what you wanted...i just don't know if a guy like me would have wanted it! overall, good work....again. :thu:

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my.....

:snax:

How much difference does the weighted controller make? I really like your piano sound and I am wondering what I could do to get my piano parts a little closer to yours (ignorning the inconvenient answer of "practice, practice, practice").

I use Reason Pianos for my piano samples (which I am pretty happy with) and I play a Roland XP-10 controller, which is supposed to be semi-weighted but doesn't really provide any tactile resistance. I've been working on my technique, and I am definitely reaching different levels in the velocity sample mapping with some level of expressiveness, but I am wondering if a weighted controller would mask some of the inconsistencies in my technique/touch. I haven't pulled the trigger on a new keyboard because (1) I am pretty cheap, (2) I've been playing this controller for many years and have probably adapted to it quite a bit, and (3) because I also use this controller to play many other keyboard/synth sounds, and I'm not sure if those sounds would be more or less playable with a weighted controller.
