Members Cripes
Don't know if this has been done before so let me know if you already know the punch line. Has... anyone ever posted just a melody (instrumental) just to throw out for anyone to put lyrics to? I know some write music to lyrics while others go around the other way. Just curious. I sit and noodle around a lot and come up with all sorts of (acoustic) crap-er-music and am otherwise destitute for words to put with them. I don't consider anything I do as a possible future paycheck so I'm game for the idea. Just thought it would be a gas to hear what folks come up with. Warning: I'm schooled in acoustic only. Takers? Members kwakatak
This should be interesting. I'm going through a similar process with that song about my late uncle. A melody popped in my head and it fit the mood of the song so I ran with it. I had to change the chords a little but that was OK and soon some rudimentary lyrics began creeping into my psyche. I don't know where it's going but the ride is starting to get really fun!
Members MDR
Hi Cripes: I'm sure that you'll find some takers here. Looking forward to hearing your music. Back in the day, a friend & I used to collaborate in similar fashion. He had one of the first 4-track recorders; he'd lay down some rhythm guitar chord progressions, then mail me a cassette. I'd listen, come up with lyrics, and mail it back. Then we'd get together and record the songs using drum machine, bass etc. Some of our World-Famous Songs were written this way (we live in a small 2-person world) cheers R

I sent him a song I'd written, laid down the acoustic track and sang to. He did the lead and bass guitars and vocal harmony. I sent him a CD and about a month later he sent it back. It really floored me with what he'd done. It completely changed the dynamic of the song. I would have never "heard" what he did on my own. That's the fun part of collaboration. It's like the anticipation of getting that little prize out of a CrackerJax box except in this case the prize is actually worth the wait.
