Members rlm297
I'm recording a song piecemeal (as I write it) and have a solid intro, verse, pre-chorus. The pre-chorus descends and ends into a strong C# powerchord hit, setting up the chorus. Where do I go from here? I'm looking for a big hard rock memorable chorus, but powerchord progressions other than the average E, B, C#, B or C#, B and A. For all intents and purposes, the song is in 4/4 and in the key of C#. Guitar driven. Has a 90's Aerosmith feel. Any advice or examples of what's been done before, would be appreciated. Maybe I can mess with timing or phrasing or use a double tracked riff? Change up the beat? I don't know. I have no idea about chord progression theory other than what sounds good to my ear. I can easily bang out a chorus using the above chord progressions, but I'm looking to take the higher road and do something outside my comfort zone. Any tips? Members blue2blue
Chicken scratches.I'm thinking that Lee would know just how to make his suggested progression come alive -- but when I played it a few different ways on guitar and then plugged it into a simple MIDI arrangement, while it flowed pretty well (no harmonic trainwreckin'), it didn't really feel all that compelling to me. I'm thinking it may be more a failing of my musical imagination... but...

I appreciate the help!A related question. What makes a "big chorus" a "big chorus"?
Members rsadasiv
Well, it's like a normal chorus, except bigger.
Members rlm297
Ok. I was wrong. The pre-chorus ends with a D# or Eb rooted powerchord.
