OK, this is the part where I post something really pissy to make someoen go away, then half the forum jumps my ass over being mean, then we argue over spelling and grammar, then we argue over musicality, then finally sum it up with name calling.

OK, begin!

Who the hell does this guy think he is?!!......using his excellent ebay cred to snag one of the great drummers on this forum...crap makes me sick. Why can't there be a musicians seeking musicians spam thread?...(an old reference to waaaaayy back in the day :))

btw, amps suck bawls!!

how's that?

AMPS ROCK!!!

Some, in fact, I'd venture to say that only a few truely rock.

My JVM410H, for example, as a severe case of "Rawkitus", as do most other Marshalls.

When Marshall Amplifiers are played, the player may experience a severe case of euphoria, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, orgasm, and an erection lasting during the entire session, which may last longer than 4 hours. Severe depression may result upon learning of the retail price. Envy may be experienced by other musicians in the vicinity, especially other guitar players. There have been reports of super models clinging to players during and after a performance with Marshall Amplifiers, but these claims have not yet been verified by an independent lab under controlled conditions. There is no Generic available for Marshall Amplifiers, so please ask your dealer for genuine Marshall Amplifiers.

Tell ya what...I actually went and listened to the tunes on their myspace. Our little community here tends to jump all over interlopers (for those of you monosyllabic types, that means people [oops, two syllables] from outside [oops two syllables] our group). That was difficult. Where was I?

They're not bad! I don't think it's ready to break the Billboard charts, but if I hadn't canceled my move to Boston I'd have given it a whirl.

Granted they can be an unwieldy lot but most somoens are good natured folk. You should allow them in your posts.

To any career-minded New England drummers, I'll vouch for Mark. Though I've never met him in person, his old band (Bionic) had a fantastic reputation and consistently landed killer gigs with both WAAF and WBCN. His new band, Craving Lucy, has a killer buzz...

OK, go ahead and post a clip showing a *Fender Practice Amp* that ROCKS.

I would if it weren't for the neighbours (when driven with a preamp it's f*cking loud, no joke!)

Champs (the old ones) are one of the few amps that sound like their large counterparts (no thiness in tone). It's common to use them, or other small amps, in studios as it's one of the few ways you can get screaming guitar at volumes that don't shatter your eardrums.

I suppose it depends on your definition of 'rockin', but Clapton used a Champ for one of his 70s albums (Boulevard?..can't remember). They can get a lot heavier than that, though (I appreciate that his tone is 'clean' by modern standards).

Rather than me post a sound clip, why don't you try one yourself? Any decent clean booster/pre-amp will do.

If you're using a preamp to drive a Fender Champ, you're not using a Fender Practice Amp...

You're using a preamp into a Fender Champ...

So what. It's the amplifier creating the distortion, not the preamp/booster (unless you use ridiculous amounts of gain in the preamp). The whole concept behind the EH linear power booster in the 70s was to use them to drive amps into distortion, on account of so many guitars being fitted with weak PUs. It was pretty much the only way to get that sound - you used a booster or a fuzz to push the amp into distortion - and many classic rock guitar tones were achieved using boosters. Clapton & May are the first two names that spring to mind.

Active pickups have built in preamps. I suppose, then, that you're not playing a guitar into an amp if you have those installed??
