I spoke with Ron Theilman from Brainstorm Media today and he's totally into helping us this year, and future jams too.

He's contacting Capital University, he has connections, to use the auditorium so we have more room and can make the event larger.

I'll keep ya posted. I need to get with Jim Rupp from Columbus Pro Percussion next and discuss they're part and opening it up to the public the first day and charging say $10.00 a head. I would also like to get people to sign-up on here on the spot. If they're committed, we maybe can get them involved the following day. Just some thoughts. Ron also said he'd set up video conferencing for the N/W jam. So TGF, get your game on sweetie.:poke:

The guys involved last year, you'll need to prepare to send a DVD to your supporter and get their support again. It would be REALLY nice to get a Grand Prize from Heirloom Drums (hint, hint)

Slap, we'll need a small Djembe bro.

where is this goign to be? (please in indiana)

Nope, sorry man. Columbus Ohio. I have venues, video crews, 5 star drum shop to help and so on.

Indiana ain't that far from Columbus Ohio. We had people do 11 hours on the road last year. Manouver did at least 5/6. BD flew over 1,000 miles. It's commitment bro. If you have a will, you'll find a way. I believe in ya.:thu:

Who's gonna go to the NW one? Can it be huge and badass? Does everyone get a complimentary Slap Happy Drum?

Well there are quite a few of us on the West Coast, how many of us would be able to go to OH, how many of us would be able to meet in for a Westy Summit, how many of us would be able to do both.....these are all fairly important questions

Seems to me that it'd be easy to stagger them in case any crazies wanted to go to both.

Or if it seems that there aren't many from the West headed East and so on that it wouldn't be that hard to line the dates up.

We (Slap Happy DrumsTM) will donate something, size and quantity dependent on the "hand to mouth/sittin' fat" scale measured against the attendance and factors of a variable nature.

Grem, if your home really needs one of my drums and Amy can't plug my company 10+ times (after 10 name drops I gotta step up my game beyond Cake, the 10th gets you a Tiramisu and a shaker 11+ you get drum) anyway we could work out a payment plan, you don't need to plan a Coastal gathering just to get a drum.

ok.....

#1, currently i am unemployed. i have started poking out into the public to get a venue and some ideas, but so far nothing. disheartening, but i'm aware i'm not trying hard enough...you see, i'm trying to get a job to pay my bills.

#2, within two weeks mtv will be here. i have another interview on thursday. so hopefully by the time mtv gets here my work load will consist of 'work, be on tv, continue the work i do for leaves russell, and make sammiches/do dishes/ clean house.' this does not include any free time to do things like paint, take hour long baths, and see my friends.

#3, no matter how many times i say 'slap happy drums' there is a possibility they will edit that part out completely, but i will still try. it will be an experiment. but don't worry, if i get to write a bio on mtv.com it will include that.

#4, i'm not saying i can't do this. portlanders have offered to help. but i'm leaving it up to you guys to decide dates. if we're going to do portland, or portland staggered, i can send the helpful bitches an email tomorrow with what i need help with and what i've done so far.

if we're going to try to head east, then i'll open up a savings account and name it 'do not touch' through online banking.

ok.

the end.

for now.

Marko, if I didn't like you so much, and if you weren't Cdawg's Prag, I'd tear you a new one....We make
Ashiko
drums not Djembes, Don'tchu know I'll cut you?

Point taken and apologies sent. Slap you must realize that I am NOT by any means a "hand drummer". I just know that they all have very strange names. It shall be Ashiko from this day forward. Now, I'm backing away slowly and you can calm down and place the knife back in it's sheath- PLEASE!

Charging admission sounds kinda tacky unless your bringin in the big guns:poke:JMO I understand there is bills in these things but, I thought thats what the sponsers were for.

race, that would ONLY be to the general public, if we open it up to the general public at all. If we do, it's definitely a two day affair. And, no one has sponsored us yet. We've had supporters that have donated items to give away, but a sponsor is a completely different thing. Say HC became a supporter. They would then most likely give us a budget of some sort, handle a lot of things on their own, which would allow them more "control" over the entire event. If the general public is into it, I don't think $10.00 is much for an entire day. Members from here would not pay anything, but could donate $ for future events if they felt the urge. But it wouldn't be held against them if they choose not to. This is "our" event, not the public's.
