"Bad" is one of my favorite tunes ever. Certainly sounds like the guitar part, but not like Vanilla Ice ripping off queen. Something about his
voice I've never really liked
, the songs not too bad though.

you mean cos he sounds like a {censored}?:thu:

The lyric line, especially the lyric line.. Very very similar.

I always thought he was a {censored} boy, and probably smells of baby wipes.. But damn can they make some good music..

lotta dudes in that audience.

weird.

You were there.............come on.

I think he's always, just him now, been a little bit of a poor rip off of Dave Mathews. I like Carlock, but that was just time keeping, which is fine. Not beating on Keith here.

Mayer smells like baby wipes Box? That's pretty funny. I gotta remember that. Not about Mayer, just the baby wipes thing.

Has to be the worst live Mayer I've heard. The live set on Palladia that plays from time to time is outstanding. Just unfair that he can play guitar that well, sing that well, write songs that well, AND look good.

Never understood the Dave Matthews comparisons. DMB is an alternative fusion group and Matthews as a singer is really rhythmic and guttural. Mayer makes pop music with a touch of blues and is a super breathy singer.

Also don't get the musicians hating Mayer either...I understand the jealousy, it's just a silly petty thing.

I realize that they're completely different genres, but there are times Mayer's style of play reminds me of the DMB. Always has. Yea, completely different voices- at times. There are some toned downed DM tunes where he does sing similar. Not exactly, just similar. Also, I'm not a Mayer hater. He has wrote some good {censored}. Not what I'd buy or want to play regularly, but he has his {censored} in a pile for sure. DMB is a different story. Seen them 3 times and have his tunes. Carter is the {censored}. If I stole the thread there, I apologize. Just clarifying a little.

1001's vid gagged me though.

His blues trio stuff is often excellent, and even if you can't stand to watch a matinee idol playing it you can listen to the incomparable SJ.

His pop stuff, though, is a waste of good oxygen.

Still, for Carlock, et. al., a gig's a gig and the money spends just as nicely.

Colaiuta? There's nothing the man can't do. His pocket was plenty deep and minimalist on Fields Of Gold. But he lacks a certain grease that someone like Steve posesses.

You have a good focus on it. KC in that clip is the antithesis of Mr. Jordan. I always thought SJ was too predictable on the back beat - like Letterman ad infinitum but hearing Carlock in the seat puts it in perspective. I think Vinnie (never met the guy but evidently that's how you refer to him) would fill the pocket nicely and add some sophistication no extra charge.

So what happened to SJ?
