Members Orange Jackson
So this will be my first first throne, as well as my first drum kit. I'm interested in recommendations for a throne you may know of that works well for someone my height. I'm 6'7. My leg from the bottom of my heel to the top of my knee is 25 and 1/4 inches. I think I'd like to be over the drum just a touch and am looking for something that will get to that height but also be really stable. Thank you. Members fesswrx
Try a Rock 'n' Sock Nitro in a store. I am 6'3 and there is a little adjustment left to go up on mine.
Members Carpathian
Roc-N-Soc also offers the nitro in a taller size which may or may not be needed. Found Here

Found Here This gets my vote, or the non-nitro ones that spin to adjust. Both go up to 29 inches.
Members kmart
I personally do not recommend the Nitro (hydraulic) throne, but I wouldn't recommend a hydraulic throne to anyone in any case, for the most part. However, I will suggest the 'regular' RocNSoc spindle base throne; they make it with a Tall spindle option that goes to 29" (per their website here: http://www.rocnsoc.com/manual-spindles.html ) This is the throne I use live and for rehearsal. I am 6'1", so I am considerably shorter than the OP, but I will tell you that I sit higher up than any drummer I know by a good amount...no drummers I know, tall or short, can sit comfortably at my kit, as I like my legs to hang a fair amount, as opposed to having the tops of my thighs be level with the ground. Can not stress enough that the tall spindle model should easily suffice, no matter how high up you think you'll want to sit. Try to check one out at a drum shop/music store. I think you'll be surprised by how tall they will go.

I've had my hydraulic roc-n-soc throne for a couple years now and I absolutely love it.
Members Orange Jackson
Guess I'll get all my noob questions out of the way. Bass drum pedals? This is all new to me, so any thoughts that will help me understand what to look for would be really appreciated. My kit is a Roland td9 sx v-drum. (I've read that felt is a no no with v-drum sets, but that I could wrap the beater with electrical tape if I really felt like going with felt.) Members Carpathian
Either that or he doesn't prefer the bounce. I myself like a hydraulic throne. Don't have a roc but one day.
Members Carpathian
price range on the bass pedal? single? double? Most beaters can be interchanged so feel and price range are you most important aspects to look at
Members Orange Jackson
I'm thinking $100 to $150? Single pedal I think... (Does a new drummer dare mess with a double bass pedal?) I don't suspect that I'd be a really hard hitting drummer, probably more of a fine tapper sort of thing.

I'd recommend a dw5000 single pedal. I think it's a top of the line pro-quality pedal without having to pay for extra frills.

That's working a few years in MI retail, and more in production/backline rental. 2) Do not like/want the bounce. I know they're for some people. Just also know they are not for me. Members drumtechdad
I hate bouncy thrones. I have a hard enough time hitting everything when they're not moving around on me.

Still going to research around a bit, but that looks like a really solid starting point.
Members ruman
I was looking for specific advice on thrones. I used the *@%$ search engine but didn't find my question answered. I'm an old drummer just getting back into it and don't know squat.I am 6'2" with extra long legs and was wondering about throne heights. I have been using a cheapo throne extended to it's full height and it's starting to come apart
