Why does Carmine remind me of Bun E. Carlos?

Is because Carmine is calm, cool and reserved. Has much style and groove but doesn't have to flaunt it. A few people question: he gives them a little snippet: questions abate. Is like the rattlesnake that hisses and rattles, the low growl in the tiger's throat; you know that the little flash you see now has a deep well of reserve to back it up. Is old enough to know the sage advice and yet still young enough to display it. He has the mind of Yoda and the ability of Skywalker. He may be a geezer, but that doesn't mean that he is dead. As for the mustache and such, is much like the old Levi's jeans, "Quality never goes out of style" plus Carmine is a strict convert in the school of "garbage in, garbage out" so he believes in putting a top notch effort in to get a top notch effort out and that it does matter and will show to the audience!

I know was kinda sticky, but really is true! Ever since you've came on here, you have helped all of us out and from all the great work you've done with your on line lessons an production of the Columbus Vids and so on it shows the talent you have for playing and for teaching others. Like Carlos, you are that cool cat that just speaks softly and carrys two small sticks. I know I don't know you personally but you seem like the ideal teacher that believes in supporting their students and helping them see what is possible rather than being a taskmaster that is overdemanding or expects other to bow down to your awesome chops. And you help out here as well even off topic!

OK I'm not gonna get emotional here, but let me tell ya...it IS really cool having the ability to pass on a craft I find so close to my heart!. It may have started off with Jenna getting me back playing, but when I see the kids I teach just starting off, getting the hang of how to play and starting down the road I did so long ago, it makes me feel kinda energetic inside. And when I see guys like Zach (performing at the DJ&C) and Dominic and Gabriel (my students in Georgia) playing drum set after 2 months playing, or Shelby who gave me 5 months to turn her from being a cymbal player in the back row of the marching band to a lead snare drummer for that marching band (AND SHE MADE IT HAPPEN!)...it affects me inside...gives me more of a new perspective on things.

My first teacher, Wayne Hudson, really made an impression on me way that way back then. And even to today, we've still remained friends...hell, he came to my dad's funeral to pay his respects. That's old school baby!! That's what I am AND WHAT I LIKE! Sure it's sentimental, but kids need that today, and I'm gonna be there for them! My students ARE MY KIDS come hell or high water. And just maybe, they'll pass that sentiment along when they get to be my age, whether still in music, or in whatever they'll be doing!

And you guys have helped me a ton, so I just try and give some of that back every now and then...:thu:
