Drum Carpet Marking Ideas????

OK...I have a problem here. I already have my drum carpet, and had the idea of marking everything with a carpenters crayon. It worked well for a while but the stuff wears off. My carpet is Black.......how can I mark this carpet piece permanantly, without lots of trouble. Carpet dye? Ive seen people tape, but does not seem permanant enought for me......any ideas...throw em at me.

For permanant.......white or silver paint. Just a small spot under each leg or pad. Visable under bad lighting when you're setting up. Invisable when covered by the stands or drums.

Aw, come on. It's way more fun trying to get everything to line up in a tiny corner that the carpet is wedged into on a teeeeny stage.

Could you take a dremel with a grinding attachment and bore a mark into the carpet?

thought about the paint thing...just afraid it would come off like everything else. I wonder if someone makes a bleach pencil of some sort.

Paint pen.

They come in silver, and I believe day-glo colors, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't want to permanently mark my drum rug, as that means if I change my setup (which I am in the process of doing...drastically), I need a new rug.

They work quite well.

Not worried about the rug. Its for a new gig that my kit will not change. If something else comes along and I need to change I will buy another rug and save this one. Rugs are cheap. At least the ones I use. I will try a paint pen and see what happens.

well, I stopped by the local hobby store and purchased a wide tip paint pen. 8.00$ Marked everything and the thing ran out of paint. I will try the clorox pen or gel if this doesnt hold.

I was going to say "paint pen," but I can't imagine marking off carpets permanently - I stuck to tape when I did it.

That being said, I play so many stinking shows that I haven't struck my drum rug in probably five years.

Am I the only person that owns a gallon of bleach anymore? Just apply some with... anything, really. Paintbrush, a finger, a pinhole in a water balloon full of bleach... whatever.

Got it.....but kinda messy. If I got any excess on the carpet in the room in the basement, my wife would kill me. I may end up doing something like this now that I have it marked already.

Man, I was a teenager when instant-messaging became really popular, and I still don't know most of the abbreviations!

Also, I would suggest a silver Sharpie if you ever need something cheaper

Sharpie also makes decent paint-pens, water or oil based in many colors and sizes.

Been doing it for years. I use acrylic art paint. Comes in a tube.
