1. I found the only time I used mine was when I was taking lessons. I would tune up in the waiting room so as to not waste precious lesson time having the teacher watch me tune. It worked great for that purpose.
2. Uncanny Santana connection. Having said that those dudes have talent oozing from their pores. Their vocals are what make them really stand out IMHO. When I first heard this song about 2:05 mark, I had to go through my Santana collection to make sure it wasn't a cover. Not quite I guess. 3. Family is first for me too. However, of the many things I can list as hobbies, playing the guitar is the one that I actually manage to spend time doing on a daily basis. Modding guitars, collecting guitars, photography, bicycling, golfing, and fly fishing all take a back burner...some of them for years.
4. If you've ever listed a guitar on Craigslist you'd probably understand the dude's frustration. The exchange went to {censored} when you told him to "chill out". Telling somebody to "chill out" almost always has the opposite effect. If you wanted to know how low the guy would go you should have just asked.
5. ...a dotted eighth delay...Do you mean like the opening notes on Run Like Hell? Or what about the EVH tune Cathedral? Delay is just about everywhere to some degree, but some songs are built on it.
6. That looks and, as you describe it, sounds hawt!! "very-flat U" is a great way to describe my ideal profile.
7. ...I'm pretty sure she'd look fine if she lost weight and had a makeover. I believe she did.
8. Mike, thanks for the feedback (no pun intended). As long as you are talking about KA pickups and bumping the thread, I think of it as no dis-service to the OP. So those VT hand-wound, 12 pole HB's...how much does something like that run?
9. i dont know anything about those models mentioned, but just a word of props for Kent Armstrong, he is a super nice guy and makes a quality product. Every one of my archtops (5) has a Kent Armstrong 14-pole PAF humbucker. IMO, they are the best jazz pickup out there. I once had occasion to call Mr Armstrong in Vermont and found him to be absolutely accommodating and quite a delightful person. he is quite the crackup...he was full of quips and one liners - it was an entertaining conversation. again, i cannot help with what you are really asking, but after reading some disparaging other comments, i thought i should at least share my experience with his handmade jazz pickups, which are superb. Mike, Any experience with this one? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Pickups:_Guitar,_archtop/Kent_Armstrong_Suspended_Jazz_Humbucker.html
10. I got one from Overstock.com. Mine intonated okay, but just barely. I've got about a half turn left on the G string saddle and not much more than that on the B. Other than the bridge placement "almost problem" I actually like it a lot. It weighs next to nothing but resonates really well. The pickups sound pretty good too. I paid $199 for it and that's about what it's worth IMO...I wouldn't pay more than that. Glad it worked out. Does the shorter scale bother you at all? How is the neck?
11. From what I have seen, there aren't a lot of people around here with this model. I will tell you Overstock.com has them for about $250 with free shipping and probably a new customer discount.
12. If you found one in a store that feels good and sounds good then do for it. Based on Mr. Mow's experience you should verify the guitar is intoned before you leave the store with it.
