Members Edward
The guitar in the OP is cool.... looks like an early Trussart prototype! I'm a fan of the dieselpunk aesthetic myself - similar idea as Steampunk, but more 1930s/40s.
Members ievans
As concept art, it's awesome. As a lifestyle, it's a bit of I've seen some of these guys spend hundreds and hundreds of hours to transform a computer into . . . a computer with levers, steam valves, and old typewriter keys on the keyboard. But really . . . Hilarious. The awesomeness of the creations are tempered quite a bit by the pretentiousness of the creators. And the ridiculous costumes. But the steam-engine powered iron tree that was at the Crucible last year in west Oakland was pretty damn cool.

Members foppy
Steampunk is one of those scenes that I'm glad exists yet would never want to identify myself with in a million years.
Members ievans
Link? The Crucible is a non-profit in Oakland that teaches crazy {censored} with fire.http://thecrucible.org/index.html They have an impressive exhibit every year called the Fire Arts Festival that has all kinds of nutty demos.http://thecrucible.org/fireartsfestival/index.html Like, flamethrower shooting galleries, two dudes in flameproof suits making a tornado of fire, and a giant block of ice being melted away by a flame inside. Also a lot of fire dancing. Like, way, way, way too much fire dancing. In the middle was the steampunk tree. Members GaijinGweilo
Rammstein always struck me as a little steampunk (note the fire & mohawks)
Members Bert-O-325
I think that guitar in the original post is pretty durn cool! The awesomeness of the creations are tempered quite a bit by the pretentiousness of the creators. And the ridiculous costumes. ya know - that could be said of pretty much anything - including more than a few groups of performing musicians. Just sayin'
Members Citizen_Insane
If you guys like those guitars, check out the stuff by James Trussart. His guitar's have a lot of steampunk vibe to them. http://www.jamestrussart.com/
