Members chuck sabbath
build quality? neck? pacifica is s-s-h, the other is s-s-s, but its not a big deal for me. the pacifica is newer but made in indonesia. the rnroller looks a bit rough but is made in japan. thoughts? Members Musicscotty
Pics would help a lot here? Any MIJ Yamaha is going to be a good guitar. I don't think it's in the company to make a bad guitar. I've played lots of MIJ Yamaha electrics and I've yet to find one that I didn't think was good. In saying that I've played several 012 and 112 Pacifica's and I can't really fault them either.
Members JoeBoy
I have an 012, that I modded. I have played the 112, it has better pups than the 012. Both pretty simular and good players. The other Yammy you mentioned, is it a srat type also?
Members Musicscotty
This is a pic of a Yamaha Super Rock n Roller. Sometimes known as a Yamaha 'lawsuit' Strat, although I don't think there was ever any legal action by Fender.

Members Jkater
Coincidently, I was in a music store this morning and tried a new PAC112v in dark red (quite nice). Real good pick-ups on that one. It just sounded superb. Nice neck too. That guitar is so well made all around. I don't care that it's relatively cheap, It's a good guitar. I have a gut feeling that the PAC112 might be a safer bet. It's not made in Japan but it's made by Yamaha. They don't have other companies make their cheapos like Ibanez does. Members d_dave_c
Play 'em both and get the one you like. If the Rock n Roller is in good condition, I'd go for the rnr.
Members lowbrow
I'd go for the R'N'R if it's a decent price... I got a `88 RGX112 in close to mint condition this weekend. Guitar/amp/gigbag for $40. The amp is a old MIK Maco solid state...gonna keep it at our practice space to jam on while we wait for everyone to show up...
