Identify themselves and notify the consumer, in every communication, that the communication is from a debt collector, and in the initial communication that any information obtained will be used to effect collection of the debt[17]

The problem is that most of it is geared towards the person they are trying to collect money from. They are not trying to collect from me, they just keep calling me over and over trying to contact some person I have never heard of.

I know what you mean... a telephone company is trying to collect $136.00 from me... Money I do not owe as I paid them the balance six years ago.

 

But damn if I can find the proof. So they keep harrassing me; they claim they can destroy my credit rating (only now good after a shaky decade).

 

Frustrating!
