Stripped truss rod... need a new neck?

Are we talking about the rod threads, or the hex head?

(Also, how?)

Hex head.

Not sure. On my MIA Tele, I think a tech did it. I had it adjusted once by a guy at GC (back when I had no idea what I was doing). The next tech I took it too (who I trust 100%) noticed it was stripped and did the best he could to adjust it.

The MIM Tele came like that and I didn't notice until like 2 years later when I went to adjust it.

If the necks are straight, I wouldn't worry about it until it becomes a problem.

You could always get this: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Special_tools_for:_Truss_rods/Truss_Rod_Rescue_Kit.html, but it's more than a bit pricey!

Or, perhaps something cheaper, like this'd work: http://www.asseenontvguys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=378

Yikes on that first one! A new WD or Might Mite neck would be cheaper.
