Members stephen78
I have the 498T in an SG Standard and an LP Custom in Standard and E flat tuning and I dig the sound. I was thinking about buying an SG faded and sticking a 498T in there and tuning to C# for playing stoner/doom (Sabbath/Down). Anyone have experience tuning down with this pup? Will it stay tight or become muddy? I don't use a lot of gain...just a boosted Classic 30 for a good higher gain rock sound...not really a metal sound. Thanks! Members tlbonehead
The guitarist from Godsmack used 498s and Pearly Gates in his early albums.

Members stephen78
lolwut. when I think stoner/doom I do not think tight Ok, maybe tight is the wrong word. Let me rephrase...I don't want it to sound like mud. It doesn't necessarily have to be tight...just not {censored}e!
Members Dr_Kuh
No i think you should get a bass player and play in standard E. Or get a baritone.

Members Selbstmord
I don't us a 498T but a 490T and I play C standard and I do fine... Neck pickup sounds kinda muddy though, but that's the way I like it. Cleans up fine (not in a clean way at all, though) when played at very high volumes.
