Members nothingstock
here's one that I thought I was building for myself, but I finished it on a Thursday, my son (17 at the time) played it on a gig Friday night and it's been his ever since! Fender MIM body, no-name paddle headsock neck on ebay, GFS split/vintage pickups - parts probably total $120, but we both love it.Now I just wish I could figure out how to post full-size pics. Members Angry Tele
Please excuse my daughter's blanket... I found a loaded solid alder body with "hot alnico pickups" on ebay for 55 quid including postage and stuck a maple neck on it (30 quid on ebay inc postage). Added some Kluson tuners and a compensated Wilkinson bridge. I may or may not swap out the pickups once I hear it though a proper amp. My home amp is too crap to really gauge the pickups that are currently on it, although they are certainly not horrible or anything. cool blanket! And Tele...Whats a quid? Is that like 5usd? Members Tweedledee
Nice. How's that gfs minihum? Pure poo. Seriously. I've had fantastic experiences with a few different GFS Tele pickups and a few full-sized humbuckers, but I've tried three different mini-buckers they make and they've all been horrible. They're all muddy without any articulation or nuance, no matter what pots or caps I used with them. I gave up and now I only use Seymour Duncan mini buckers. The last time I bought one was over a year ago though, so they may have changed them since then. Who knows.
Members chrisebrooks06
OK, but remember, you asked. Here's my beater Frankentele that a bud made into a string-through-- with a hand drill and a chisel! Edit: Specs: Unknown body (possibly Saga, basswood w/belly cut), unknown bridge pickup, Seymour Duncan mini-humbucker in neck slot, unknown neck (possibly old Mighty Mite, tinted maple). i love that
