Members John Sayers Posted September 7, 2009 Members Share Posted September 7, 2009 it's an x-ray unit for fitting shoes - you put your foot in and look through the viewer and you can see your foot in the shoe - it was banned when they realised X-Rays were dangerous. Members spokenward Posted September 7, 2009 Members Share Posted September 7, 2009 When I was a kid I would go to the shoe store with my older brother and our neighborhood pal. They would examine the the coolness of their feet in the miracle of technology. I, however, wasn't quite tall enough actually see my toes. I was tall enough, though, to hold down the button for prolonged toe-zapping while hanging on to the machine. The kid would look through the viewer on his side, and the parent and salesman had their own viewers on the opposite side, so the salesman could discuss the fit as everyone watched the kids foot get radiated.
