question about a replacement bridge

Even if they aren't notched, it's a pretty simple job.

 

Use old strings. Tune them up enough tp put a little tension on them. Line up the string where you want it and lightly tap it with a mallet where it touches the saddle. It should leave a small indentation. Fold a piece of sandpaper and using the edge, sand the indentation a little to smooth it out.

You don't need deep slots. You just need it to keep the string in place and not have any rough spots or burrs in the notch.
