A word of caution there.. Playing your first Carvin will have the side effect of making all your other guitar feel somewhat diminished, especially the necks. I played my first Carvin in the mid 90s, and I lusted over one till I finally bought one about 3 years ago. I don't see myself ever choosing another brand.

Okay, I think I've found two I'm seriously debating on. I changed my mind (just like a woman) and decided to get another 7 string. I'm down to these two choices.

Couple things, the Ibanez has a fixed bridge and both guitars have the pups mounted to the body. The Ibby is a Mahogany body where the Jackson is Alder (). I know the neck on the Ibby is your standard fare, but I'm curious if the Jackson is roughly the same (as thickness).

Good god, the headstock on the Soloist archtop is nearly as big as a guitar body on a six string.
