Members brownbathrobe
Hi folks,I just got my guitar back from my luthier and I'm wondering if maybe he didn't do a great job on the set-up. There is a lot of string/fret buzz behind the notes I'm fingering, especially when I'm playing around the 5th fret on the E & A strings. Is this normal or should I ask him to redo it? Thanks in advance!
Members nighthawk15
That doesn't sound normal to me at all. What kind of guitar is it though? Depending on what it is it may not even have the adjustments required to fix the problem. EDIT: you're saying the buzz is on lower frets than you're playing right? I'm not sure how that would even happen.
Members brownbathrobe
Thanks for the reply, nighthawk15... EDIT: you're saying the buzz is on lower frets than you're playing right? I'm not sure how that would even happen. There is quite a lot of string-on-fret buzzing on the portion of the string which is behind the note I'm fingering. It's an acoustic (ie: non-amplified) sound but it's annoying all the same.I'm going to take it back in tomorrow.
Members Meowy
Is there a big temperature or humidity difference between his shop & your home (or wherever you are playing) ?
Members Carbohydrates
Fret the low E at the first and thirteenth frets simultaneously, then use a finger to push down the sixth. It should be slightly higher than the fret, not laying on it and not soaring over it. How is it?
