Damn... now I am gonna have to get me one of those light-wave spectrum analyzer doo-dads so I can tune the lava lamp to the reflective luminosity of my room... or should I just hang up some moving blankets? Unfortunately I did get them blasted into oblivion in my teens (thanks a lot Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, Prince, Billy Idol, Judas Priest.. you jerks! Hee! and I HOPE that doesn't make them go dark earlier on. These days I cover my ears immediately if there is a loud sound in my proximity. They are how I make my money.
