Members RoboCop00
The LP Traditional Pro pretty much has everything I want in a LP. 60's neck with a satin finish, coil-tapping, reasonably priced. However, every guitar I've ever bought has been through Washington Music Center/Chuck's (in MD). I really can't stand GC and every time I've walked into my local GC (Fairfax, VA), the salesmen come off as really overbearing and kind of sleezy. On a few occasions, I've had multiple salesmen spout complete and utter BS to me en an authoritative manner (Epi Casino's have humbuckers; the Boss DS-1 provides 'vintage' tones...). Needless to say, I'm a bit put off from ordering anything from them, let alone what I consider a large investment. Am I stuck ordering off MF? I'm a bit reluctant to buy a ~2000 dollar guitar online, especially considering how Gibson's QC has been known to greatly vary from piece to piece. Anyone got advice? Members GilmourD
Well, the Boss DS-1 IS so old that it does provide vintage tones. As a former GC employee... You really have to try a few different stores within the chain. I have four stores within a short drive of me. One is staffed by total morons, one is OK but kinda sleezy, one is pretty decent, and one is awesome. Do you have another GC within a decent drive to scope out? Members tiltsta
Order it online. They have a return policy.
Members niceguy
I'm recording in the studio today with my LP Traditional Pro. It is such a phenomenal guitar... I've been having to force myself to switch to the Strat for a few takes, so I have more tones on my recordings. Cuz let me tell you, I CANNOT stop playing this guitar I got it from Musicians Friend. Members chadd
I picked up a traditional pro, but they weren't all of the same quality. I would go on a road trip and play a bunch, even if it means hitting other Guitar Centers. Or ask a few people near you to see what they have in their local GC and head out to those stores if they have something close to what you want.
