When it showed up on local classifieds, it looked like this: (pictures from the ad)

And now it looks like this:

It was full of stickers more than 15 years old, with lots of dings and scratches and missing a saddle.

I ordered a wilkinson bridge with brass saddles, black pickguard and knobs for it. Then I stripped the old finish and did a refinish using Duplicolor and Minwax polyurethane.

I intended to finish it in natural, but it turned out that the wood is too ugly.

stripped and holes filled, sanded:

primer:

wet sanding after primer:

color coats are duplicolor "radiant silver met"

Then I got busy and didn't take any more picture.

BTW, happy Canada Day.

Thanks guys!

The idea is that I predicted there to be a lot of imperfections on the refinish, so a black pickguard would provide a good contrast and attract visual attention over those imperfections.

Despite the ugliness of the body woods, it's very light, like 3ish lbs.

I'm amazed how well this bass plays, it plays better than my american p bass (I need to do a setup on the Am.p bass again).

The sound from the ceramic pickup is okay too.
