Members SrMeowMeow
Any expert opinions on this? Part of me wants to bang it, but part of me knows that I know nothing about Carvins. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/msg/2538328817.html
Members RaVenCAD
If it was mint, that's a decent price. That's rough though. Offer $300 and I bet they'll bite.
Members SrMeowMeow
But is it a good guitar? Particularly interested in the stock pickups - any good?
Members Canadian Jeff
The frets look obliterated on that guitar. Don't bother offering anything.

Members j*h
i would be all over that if the price was a little lower!
Members Canadian Jeff
Obliterated in what way? They look okay to my (clueless) eyes. They look quite low to me. I've got a strat with frets in similar condition and it isn't all that good to play.
Members RaVenCAD
They're rough, but not unplayable. Hard to tell from the pics, but I think a lot of that is just grime.
Members slushpup96
Weird that there's two pictures of the headstock, one blurry, one not.

You think they're all still and calm, and they suddenly "rock the {censored} out" and blur your pics..

Members GCDEF
The neck looks too dinged up to me. I would think that would be pretty uncomfortable to play. The frets are trashed too. I'd pass on that one.

The frets are trashed too. I'd pass on that one. That would be my concern, Id have to play it to decide if I wanted to make an offer. These early 80s double cuts are great guitars tho. Tone is really bright, but thats a good thing. You have an actual use for the tone control. Very versatile guitars. Heres mine, bought it in 83 and has never need anything done to it, still my #1. Members cincy_cosmo
I would be really leary of the discoloration under the frets, the dark spot along the side of the neck and that line in the neck just above the body...it's a really odd place for a joint. I would not get it at all for any but the lowest price.
Members Pine Apple Slim
The line in the neck joint is no worry. Mine has that and its rock solid, just the thick poly finish shrinkage over the ys made the line. My worry would be the neck dings. Go play it. Almost looks like it's starting to rot.
Members Pine Apple Slim
This one to me is the show stopper. Almost looks like it's starting to rot. I dont think that worn edge would bother me ,if its smooth wear and not splintered. This looks like the part that would bug me, looks like some serious dings, maybe not, I'd have to play it to decide. If Ithese were cosmetic only issues, he still needs to come off the price. And inspect the fret wear personally. Would def want the price of a fretjob deducted off if it is warranted.
Members GCDEF
Yeah but the edges don't look smooth. You can see the indentation in the fretboard in the pic you posted. The fret grooves look terrible too. The dings in the other picture look bad too. That would be really annoying to play.
