Google Navigator Les Paul The op doesnt have enough $ for a gibson, let alone a navigator. A used LP studio can be had for chumpchange. Like this '95 (not mine) - APHII/JB plus original HW/pickups, ebony board, OHSC....shipped for 6 bills.
Members rburgess
I've heard good things about LTD.You can get an EC-1000 for much less than a Gibson Les paul This. And they can be had for $400-$600...
Members billybilly
Budget Les Paul, Collings WTF???If the shape is not a big consideration, you might consider this baby: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-Washburn-Pilsen-Idol-Excellent-Condition-Must-See-/270897259395?pt=Guitar&hash=item3f12bc2383It's an American made Pilsen Idol. I've wanted one of these ever since they first came out and never seen a price this low on a cherry specimen - must be the lack of inlays and appointments. I called the shop to ask about it and the clerk was extremely helpful saying that it had just come in on trade (Chicagoland area where they were made). He said he didn't know the year but said it was a W170 and did have the coil taps. Unfortunately for me it is one of the earlier ones before the weight relief chambering was done and he estimated it's weight btn ten and twelve pounds. Course if you go the Agile route it could be heavier than that. These are very good guitars, love the one I had and should never have sold it. Members IBDBB
for under $500, Agile is certainly the best bet.For over $500 and under $1k, a good used Gibson or MIJ is your best bet. I have found the Epi faded/worn specials to be pretty good in that $150ish range, but the higher priced models($300 to $800) did not feel any better than a $200 low end Agile. Members kherman
Love my LP style guitars. My: Diodati 59Q, Edwards Sykes LPC, Diodati 58, Fernandes Ravelle Deluxe. The Diodati you probably won't find. Not many around, and no longer made. Edwards are very nice. But, the Yen is pretty strong against the dollar these days. So, you don't find the deals one once did just a few years ago. Mine is a '07. I payed total with shipping $760 then. Now it'll cost you over $1k. The Fernandes Ravelle is one that doesn't get mentioned too much. But, it really is a nice LP alternative. Little more wild looking. But, it does have the LP appointments. Mahogany neck and body. Maple carve top (with flame veneer). Rosewood board. 24.75 scale. etc.. Back then they came with real Duncans. Now most come with EMGs and/or the Sustainer. I prefer Duncans. Would love to get a Ravelle JPC (MIJ) someday. But, they are $2K guitars. When sitting down with the Ravelle, I do think they sit better than a traditional LP shape because of the horn. Either way, definitely worth a look.

Members Steadfastly
One nice thing about the Agiles is they offer a narrow or wider neck, something that Gibson or Epiphone do not. This can make a big difference in the playability of any guitar.

If you look at them they are actually more similar to a Heritage than a Gibson with the horn shape.
