Members Greg.Coal
For those who couldn't see this great show, video and non-broadcast material is at this link. Those of you who are upset at seeing white musicians perform or black presidents can watch only what they want. Greg
Members scolfax
I was trying to listen to Beck but Buddy Guy wouldn't stop playing when it was Beck's turn. Not cool.
Members Dougdnh
All in all, a great show. Sad to see BB so frail - in his prime he was the best. I like Mick, but I think they gave him too much time. Buddy is still great, Beck is an amazing guitarist, but a little too 'hard rock' for a blues show. It's good to see a young black guy like Gary Clark getting into some pretty gutbucket stuff, however I personally don't dig the sound he gets out of the Casino. Perhaps my favorite performance was the Tedeschi, Trucks, Haynes "Id Rather Go Blind' - really sweet stuff!
Members Angry Tele
I dug Gary Clark Jr. A fresh approach without straying too far. Jeff Beck, while doing his usual bizarre/amazing whammy stuff, wasn't 'bluesy' AT ALL. It WAS a Blues program. Jeff was erratic at best. I would have liked to have seen Jeff play on a Tele relying only on his fingers. I liked Warren Haynes and Susan Tedeschi dueting on the Etta James number. Trombone Shorty also deserves some praise. Jagger was energetic but ........ kind of agree about JB. He should have done more of what he did at the les paul tribute
Members shoeless
kind of agree about JB. He should have done more of what he did at the les paul tribute Agreed. And a note to Mick, Miss You isn't really blues either.
Members lowbrow
I enjoyed the show for the most part, although it did seem a bit ironic that a bunch of white guys were playing blues for a black president. Ha! Me too. There have been a number of "From the White House" broadcasts in the last year or so, most have been pretty cool. If he doesn't win re-election they'll probably drop them..cause they already do Lawrence Welk re-runs and the like.
Members Mav64
LOL at erratic Jeff Beck. The highlight for me by far was Beck and Mick doing Commit A Crime. Incendiary...
Members Bob411
I didn't have a problem with some of it being too rock. It was a tip of the hat to the fact that, blues is where we got rock.

Jeez, that song didn't happen for me. Obviously no rehearsal, it was REAL loose, though that's not necessarily a bad thing, it felt awkward. The ending, in true Stones fashion, was a disaster. I love Beck (Admitedly his earlier stuff grabs me more than the whammy reliant stuff of late) but he seemed out of place, at least for me. We can agree it's cool to disagree.
