And I wonder day to day

I don't like you anyway

I don't need your {censored} today

You're pathetic in your own way

I feel for you

(better {censored}in go away)

I will behave

The {censored}in go away

I'm doing the best I ever did

I'm doing the best that I can

I'm doing the best I ever did

I don't need to fantasize

You are my pets all the time

I don't mind if you go blind

You get what you get

Until you through with my life

I feel for you

(better {censored}in go away)

I will behave

You better go away

I'm doing the best I ever did

I'm doing the best that I can

I'm doing the best I ever did

Now go away

I'm doing the best I ever did

(go away)

I'm doing the best that I can

(go away)

I'm doing the best I ever did

I'm doing the best that I can

I'm doing the best I ever did

Now go away!

I'm doing the best I ever did

I'm doing the best that I can

I'm doing the best I ever did

Now go away

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

I'm doing the best I ever did

(go away)

I'm doing the best that I can

I always seem to think of my wife when I hear that song. Touching Love song really, I smile everytime I hear it.

Dougy: I tend to the view Lennon was a class A prick and none of the Beatles wrote a note worth a damn post-Beatles, *however*.... I always loved that quote. It's the truth right there, actually it used to be my sig on this place....

Just recently I've been going back and rediscovering Dylan all over again.... Lyrically, Talkin' World War III Blues is as relevant right now as it was back in the days of the Cuban Missle Crisis. Let Me Die In My Boots also has a really "now" vibe this past summer in London for those of us who refuse to live in fear of the next attack - just gettin on with our lives, using the tubes and the busses, and so on....

On a very personal level, there's one that really hits home to me as it reminds me a bit of a vicious ex girlfriend - "Positively 4th Street" (think that's the title?) All those biting lines like:

"You've got a lot of nerve to say you were my friend, when i was down you just stood there grinning....

"I know the reason that you talk behind my back, i used to be among the crowd you're in with...

and the killer blow:

"I wish for just one day that you could stand inside my shoes, then you'd see how much it sucks to see you."

Ironically, that girl's folks - who i got on so well with, it's a pity they didn't have a better daughter ;) - were big Dylan fans. I'd totally forgotten that song til a while back when some of her bitching had floated back to me, and I happened to be gonig through the old songbook... it just encapusulated everything perfectly. Made me smile.

Nobody does bile wrapped in fluffy pop quite like Bob....

Like A Rolling Stone has the same vibe....

I've recently come back to the songs from Hedwig and the Angry Inch .... especially Origin of Love, which i adore playing. I veered away from that for a long long time due to the connection with an ex-girlfriend (it was kinda "our" thing at the time - Origin of Love was gonig to be one of our wedding songs), but now I've reclaimed it - it's *my* song again. :)

Another lyric that always stirs the soul is from Blackbird -

"Take these broken wings and learn to fly"

Currently, I'm rediscovering a lot of fun pop records from growing up - things like Hey Mickey (missed the innuendo in that one back in 82 in a big way - "come on and give to me any way you can, any way you wanna do it I'll take it like a man" indeed!!).

I adore Sunday Girl - one of the earliest singles i remember coming out. Debbie Harry singing in french....grrrrrrrr......Joey Ramone's cover of "What a Wonderful World" lifts me too.

"I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram,

On a silver black phantom bike,

Where the metal is hot and the engine is hungry,

And we're all about to see the light,

Nothing ever grows in this rotten old hole,

Where everything's stunted and lost,

Where nothing really rocks, and nothing really rolls,

And nothings ever worth the cost.

And I know that I'm damned if I never get out,

And I know that I'm damned if I do,

But with every beat I've got left in my heart,

You Know I wanna be damned with you."

Oh, when I was young

I was so full of fear

I hid behind anger, held back the tears

It was me against the world

I was sure that I'd win

But the world fought back, punished me for my sins

I felt so alone

So insecure

I blamed you instead, made sure I was heard

And they tried to warn me

Of my evil ways

But I wouldn't hear what they had to say

-(Mike Ness) Social Distortion - "I was Wrong"

Either that or:

"The day that I die will be the day that I shut my mouth and put down my guitar." - "Same in the End" - Sublime (Brad Nowell)

um....yur kiddin'....right????

no....really....ok....here goes....

If you look at your reflection in the bottom of a well,

What you see is only on the surface.

When you try to see the meaning, hidden underneath,

The measure of the depth can be deceiving.

The bottom has a rocky reputation

Since i was a kid and especially now as I get older. Pink Floyd - Time

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain

You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today

And then one day you find that ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Now I'm sad. :(

Since i was a kid and especially now as I get older

Yea...especially in getting older...these lyrics, when i hear them (and anymore i try to AVOID hearing them....)...

honest to gawd.....i nearly start to cry......

Twenty years now

Where'd they go?

Twenty years

I don't know

Sit and i wonder sometimes

Where they've gone

And sometimes late at night

When i'm bathed in the firelight

The moon comes callin' a ghostly white

And i recall

OMG these words kill me.....

When I think of all the trouble that people seem to find,

and how they're in a hurry to complicate their minds,

By chasing after money and things that can't come true,

Im glad that we are different, I'm busy lovin you,

We'll take the most from livin, have pleasure while we can,

You be my lovin woman, I'll be your lovin man

1234- Sha, la, la, la, la, la live for today, and don't worry bout tomorrow hey ay ay ay ay......

Maybe I'll come and have a look

I really love...

Your hairdo yeah....

I'm glad you like mine too

See wer're looking pretty cool

Look at ya!!

So what do you do?

Oh, yeah I wait tables too

No I haven't heard your band

'cause you guys are pretty new

But if you dig

On vegan food

Come over to my work

I'll have them cook you something

that you'll really love.

Cause I like you, yeah I like you

And I'm feelin so bohemian like you

Yeah I like you and I like you

and I feel whoa WOOOO!!!!!

Wait.

Who's that guy?

Just hanging in your pad

He's looking pretty bummed

Oh you broke up?

Thats too bad

I guess its fair

If he always pays the rent

and he doesn't get bent

about sleeping on the couch

when I'm there.

Cause I like you, yeah I like you

And I'm feelin so bohemian like you

Yeah I like you and I like you

and I feel whoa WOOOO!!!!!

I'm getting wise and I'm feeling so

bohemian like you

Its you that I want so please...

Just a casual casual easy thing

Is it?

It is for me!!!!!!!

Cause I like you, yeah I like you

And I like you I like you I like you

And I like you, yeah I like you

and I feel whoa WOOOO!!!!!

My fave "girlfriend/relationship" lyrics

I don't believe in love,

I never have I never will,

I don't believe in love,

It's not worth the pain that you feel.

- Queensryche.

Two faced woman with your two faced lies

I hope your two faced living made you satisfied

Tell me baby I was your only one

While you've been running around town with every mother's son

- AC/DC

Uh huh, this is my {censored}

All the girls stomp your feet like this

A few times I've been around that track

So it's not just gonna to happen like that

Because I ain't no hollaback girl

I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my {censored}, this my {censored}

I heard that you were talking {censored}

And you didn't think that I would hear it

People hear you talking like that, getting everybody fired up

So I'm ready to attack, gonna take you out

That's right, put your pom-poms downs, getting everybody fired up

A few times I've been around that track

So it's not just gonna to happen like that

Because I ain't no hollaback girl

I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my {censored}, this my {censored}

So that's right dude, meet me at the bleachers

No principals,no student-teachers

All the boys want to be the winner, but there can only be one

So I'm gonna fight, gonna give it my all

Gonna make you fall, gonna sock it to you

That's right I'm the last one standing, another one bites the dust

A few times I've been around that track

So it's not just gonna to happen like that

Because I ain't no hollaback girl

I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my {censored}, this my {censored}

Let me hear you say this {censored} is bananas

B-A-N-A-N-A-S

(This {censored} is bananas)

(B-A-N-A-N-A-S)

A few times I've been around that track

So it's not just gonna to happen like that

Because I ain't no hollaback girl

I ain't no hollaback girl

Ooooh ooh, this my {censored}, this my {censored}

4th verse of Bottlerocket's "Kerosene"

Fire started 'bout 3am you know none of 'em would survive

They hated that goddamn trailer so it burnt 'em up alive

Chorus

If kerosene works why not gasoline

If kerosene works why not gasoline
